Dry skin is a problem that many people deal with, especially in winter. Although its cause is due to different factors, cold and dry weather is one of the main reasons and despite the care taken, it is difficult to control the situation.
The winter seasons affect our face too much because the low humidity levels in the atmosphere do not allow it to hydrate properly, making it dry, flaky, and itchy.
Dry skin from winter
Our skin has a superficial layer called the epidermis, which is rich in lipids that hold the cells together to give it softness. But when these lipids are damaged by weather or excessive washing, the skin becomes scaly and cracked. However, with the appropriate treatments, the results will be the best, so that with the help of natural elements, the skin can be hydrated, without aggressions that cause more damage with chemical substances present in many cosmetic products.
Let’s see some cheap, simple, but effective and gentle options with this important part of our body.
1. Natural oils
Oils are a fairly nutritious product for the skin, as is coconut, almond, mustard, and olive oil. Since they contain essential fats to hydrate the area, in addition to nourishing to heal cells, cracks, dryness. Likewise, it helps fight inflammation and infections.
Pour a little of the oil already mentioned in the palm of the hands, then apply to the affected area, massaging gently for 5 minutes until absorbed. Leave it on overnight and apply it every day.
2. Aloe vera gel
This plant is well known in the world of personal care, especially for treating skin problems. Since it has properties that stimulate the sebaceous glands and restore the skin’s natural oils. In the same way, it allows sealing the humidity in cells to maintain hydration. It also increases collagen production to achieve healthy and youthful skin.
Extract the gel from aloe or aloe vera leaf, then apply it to the affected areas with gentle massages, leave it on overnight, and continue applying every day.
3. Gram flour
It is used for skincare in Indian medicine, as it contains vitamins, proteins and nourishes and restores the skin. It is also capable of cleaning the pores and stimulating the sebaceous glands when mixed with honey and milk cream to soften the skin.
Mix two tablespoons of flour, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of fresh cream, and a quarter teaspoon of turmeric. Then apply the paste in circular movements leaving to act for 30 minutes and wash with warm water, it should be used 3 times a week.
4. Banana and coconut oil
Both foods have vitamins and minerals to nourish the face and relieve possible infections, providing freshness, hydration, and a healthy appearance. To obtain the mask you need to crush half a banana, then mix it with two tablespoons of coconut oil until you obtain a paste that you must apply with circular massages and leave to act for 30 minutes. Finally rinse with warm water, using the product 3 times a week.
5. Neem leaves
It allows to stimulate the sebaceous glands and hydrate the skin to heal cracks and itching. It is also a good natural antibiotic, which helps fight infections and skin conditions like eczema. In a bowl mix well two tablespoons of dry neem powder leaves, one tablespoon of honey, a pinch of turmeric and a little water to form a paste. Apply on the affected area, leaving to act for 30 minutes and rinse with warm water, twice a week.
6. Rosewater and glycerin
This combination of products turns out to be an effective mixture because they are a natural moisturizer and allows to eliminate itching. Rosewater manages to balance the pH of the skin, stimulating blood circulation so that our skin feels softer, brighter, and more youthful.
Mix a teaspoon of glycerin with a tablespoon of rose water and apply to the skin with the help of a cotton knob, leave it to work overnight, and rinse with water at room temperature the next day. It is important to apply it every day, after your cleaning routine.
